Resin Jewelry

I have been waiting for the chance to create some resin jewelry pieces. I love the idea of making pendants, bracelets, earrings from "scratch".

I mixed up my first batch of resin tonight...not sure it was really the best night for it, with the humidity being so high. All I can say so far is that it is

STINKY!!

I mixed it up in the studio in front of an open window and wore a mask. But the residual smell is making it impossible to stay in the studio. Alas, I'm going to open up the windows and call it a night.

Can't wait to see what I have in the morning!!

  1. What kind of resin are you using? I've used the Envirotek Lite and Easy Cast and neither has much of a smell at all. I've even stopped using the mask (I'm a tad claustrophobic and it made me nuts!)

  2. Are you kidding me! How wonderful! I purchased Castin' Craft..and so far I'm not thrilled with it. Not only does it have a horrible odor, but the catalyst mixing directions do not make a whole lot of sense...and this is coming from someone who's pretty adept mathematically!

  3. ETLite and Easy Cast are both 1:1 ratio. I just use a plastic spoon for measuring because I don't like to do too much at once. Even if the measurement isn't perfect I've never had wet spots or anything.
You can get the resin at Michaels with the coupon. Always use the coupon!
